Linux Systems Engineer (C4)

An experienced Linux System Engineer with strong Perl development skills required to join an Infrastructure Services and Delivery team for this leading Telco.

The successful candidate will be required to act as a prime or as a member of a core team to deliver Server Infrastructure, and be responsible for all equipment build into the Exchange, ensuring timely delivery of server infrastructure. 

The position requires a very good knowledge of server platform technologies (X86), Operating Systems primarily Linux and automated build of server OS (kickstart etc.), as well as a good knowledge of IP Networks. 

It is expected that you will have excellent Perl Scripting skills to enhance or resolve any in-house tools developed to automate the deployment and build of server infrastructure and be able to solve "real world" problems with Perl. 

The following skills and experiences are also required: 

• LAN device configuration, administration and support experience
• Infrastructure design and build of racks, Servers (physical and virtual) and Switches
• Build and Configuration of Linux Operating Systems
• Significant experience with IP protocols and related components ie Routers, Switches, Firewalls, load balancers
• Storage technologies (NFS)
• Backup technologies
• Load Balancing
• Perl Language

This is a key position within this team, and as such you will not only be the go to person, but will also be responsible for directing and mentoring junior staff.
