Telco Network Engineer - provisioning transmission backhaul (C4)

Our client, a leader in the Telecommunications field, requires the services of a Network Engineer to join their Mobile Infrastructure Provisioning team and perform provisioning of the Transmission Backhaul for 3G Mobile Base Stations, including expansions and rearrangements? This includes such tasks as implementing configuration data into various systems and remote testing with field staff.

6 month initial Contract - Rate to $360 per day (inc Super)

This role has a strong emphasis on remote 2MB SDH transmission mapping/configuration & testing, to support the mobile access network rollout. Ethernet mapping, configuration & testing for IP backhaul from base stations also forms part of the role.

NOTE: the candidate must be prepared to work a pattern of night shifts if required. This would typically be 5 weeknights in a row, two weeks in 8.

The role is responsible for:
Performing Mobile Transmission Backhaul mapping & testing to the client's 3G mobile network whilst ensuring changes are performed in a controlled manner using Infrastructure procedures. Implementing changes to Mobile Core & Base Station equipment during base station rearrangements. Establishing & maintaining quality working relationships with service assurance teams, GSM NSAC, GSM proactive, Mobile Technical Support and Radio Access Engineering (RAE), as well as nationally based provisioning teams in Mobile Network Deployment and their appointed contractors. Establishing & maintaining quality working relationships with other provisioning teams within the Client, especially those within the Core & Mobile group as well as the Nokia & Huawei teams involved in the 3G rollout. Perform tracking of dependency issues or faults to ensure on time performance meets specific targets. Escalate any issues or faults to a senior network engineer/Group Leader that are likely to cause a delivery miss or impact on mobile provisioning KPI's. Assist as required in the development of work processes & procedure documentation. To be considered for the role you will require:- A minimum 2 to 3 years experience in telecommunications network operations/maintenance/provisioning. Experience with SDH transmission systems - provisioning and/or maintenance. Degree or associated Diploma in Telecommunications engineering or equivalent.

Desirable skills would also include:- formal training or experience in Mobile network elements; knowledge of Alcatel, Nortel & Fujitsu SDH transmission equipment, Harris SDH radio; knowledge of Nokia & Huawei mobile equipment and knowledge of Ethernet over SDH. The ability & willingness to be a team member. Effective English language communication skills (written & oral). Ability to establish & evolve effective inter-personal working relationships as part of a dynamic team working in a changing environment. Customer focused with ability to work to project targets.
